Subash Chandra Bose's model of governance and democracy

While all the major leaders of that time believed in democracy, but they highly differed in the form of democracy that they wished to have. For instance, Gandhiji wanted gram swaraj ie. The village should have a high level of autonomy and administrative power. Inspired by the Soviet Union, Nehru wanted the majority of powers to be with the central government. Ambedkar, on the other hand, was not a fan of a powerful central government and he considered Gandhiji's idea of delegating more powers to the village level as the most evil thing that can ever happen. So he wanted the powers to be vested in the state capitals.  Not only in the previous paragraph, mostly the great leader Subash Chandra Bose is mostly ignored in most of the forums when democracy is the topic of discussion. As per Subash Chandra Bose's speech in Singapore he wanted India to be under 20 years interim government ruled by a dictator. After attaining some socio-economic and political democracy in the 20 years...

What if the Kashmir conflict ever existed?

Some view that the birth of the Kashmir conflict is when the tribes from Pakistan invaded it. The birth of the Kashmiri problem is born in my point of view is - when the National conference meet turned into conflict and the conflicting factions walked out and revived the old Muslim conference. So I would answer from two perspectives. What if the Pakistani tribesmen never invaded Kashmir?  If it didn't happen then Kashmir would have been a princely state for some more years. While the Muslim conference, Kishan union etc wanted Kashmir to join Pakistan, the National conference was the only party to oppose it. So sooner or later it would have become a part of Pakistan or been another Nepal or Bhutan in the subcontinent (independent states). 2. What if the tribes invaded Kashmir and India denied to help them?  If India didn’t accept the request of Maharaja Hari Singh to defend Kashmir from tribal invaders, Kashmir would have got completely annexed by Pakistan. In this scenario, In...

Relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose behind politics/personal relationship/friendship between Gandhiji & Netaji

Relationship between Gandhi and Netaji behind politics: • However, beyond politics Subhas Chandra Bose admired both Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru, and had a very affectionate relations with them. In August 1942, when Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India movement, Subhas Chandra Bose was in Berlin. Subhas Chandra Bose told his close associate CN Nambiar that he needed to "be with Gandhiji". It was around the same time that Subhas Chandra Bose was in the process of the formation of Azad Hind Fauj to launch attacks on the British. • Gandhiji called Netaji as the “Prince among patriots”. • In his Azad Hind Radio message from Berlin, Subhas Chandra Bose had called the Quit India Movement of Mahatma Gandhi, the "non-violent guerilla warfare". It was no coincidence that Subhas Chandra Bose had named two of the Azad Hind Fauj brigades after Gandhi and Nehru. • Another incident arising from the death of Kasturba Gandhi, the wife of Mahatma Gandhi in 1944 shows how much ...

Ideologies of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi/socio economic and political ideological differences between Gandhi & Nehru

Ideologies of Netaji and Gandhiji: • Netaji's political views were in support of complete freedom/independence for India at the earliest in one stroke, whereas most of the Congress Committee including Gandhiji wanted it in phases/step by step, first through a Dominion status then independence. • Subhash Chandra Bose adopted violent means for the liberation of India and thus led the Indian National Army. Gandhi on the other hand was a firm believer in non-violence and led peaceful mass protests. • Thus, although they shared the goal of an independent India, by 1939 the two had become divided over the strategy to achieve Indian Independence, and to some degree the form which the post- Independence state should take: Gandhi was hostile to industrialization, while Bose saw it as the only route to making India strong and self-sufficient. • Gandhi’s ideology was more of a village sufficient three-tier government model and Netaji was influenced by radical leftist ideology. Ideologically ...
